About Paterson ATV

J Paterson & Sons Ltd is a third-generation family business.

Today

Today the business is owned by Mark Paterson.

Mark took over the family business 10 years ago and has since grown the business from J Paterson & Sons to Paterson ATV, now with 17 employees and two branches becoming Honda’s number one dealer in Scotland and winning the Outstanding New Dealer Award for Polaris.

The last 10 years has faced and created a lot of change, more so in the last two years. New departments have been created resulting in recruiting additional members to the team – the mission statement for PatersonATV is now clear ….

“We understand that more than ever efficiency and use of time is crucial to running a successful business. Therefore we focus on making the most of the expert knowledge of our team and placing it where it belongs – in your ATV, UTV and Motorcycle, giving you the best there is when it comes to Sales, Service and Parts.”

“We will continue to invest in our people, our procedures and our productivity to ensure your ATV, UTV and Motorcycle are kept in the best condition possible, serving all of your needs.”

History

1947 – Although today Paterson ATV is best known for supplying, servicing and repairing ATVs, the business was founded in the late 1940s by James Paterson to carry out motorcycle repairs. James, who served in the RAF during WWII, was a keen motorcyclist who raced in a number of competitive events including the prestigious Isle of Man TT.

1974 – James’ son Michael took over the business in the 1970s when the first All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) made their debut. He quickly recognised how important these machines would become to the agriculture sector and so, J Paterson & Sons diversified from motorcycles to supplying and servicing ATVs. It was around the same time that our current showroom opened in Bank Square, Dalbeattie.

2010 – Mark Paterson took over J Paterson and Sons.

2019 – J Paterson and Sons rebranded to Paterson ATV

2019 – Newton Stewart branch opened.

2019 – Polaris dealership started.
